Miss Caribbean US 2023

Miss Trinidad & Tobago

Sabrine Semper

Sabrine is a first-generation Caribbean-Ethiopian-American student at Temple University. She is pursuing a major in Genomic Medicine with a minor in Information-Data Science on a Pre-Med Track. In her first year, Sabrine's exceptional abilities and dedication have earned her a place among a select group of 8 science and technology scholars, who are generously supported by the National Science Foundation.

Sabrine's roots trace back to Princes Town, Trinidad, where her paternal grandparents and father hail from. Her mother, on the other hand, was born and raised in Ethiopia, and serves as a significant source of inspiration in Sabrine's life. Embracing and preserving her blended culture and traditions with grace is of utmost importance to Sabrine.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Sabrine is a technically trained dancer, having mastered more than six different styles over the course of 13 years. Her passion for dance extends beyond mere hobby, as she actively competes and dedicates her free time to this expressive art form.

In addition to her commitment to dance, Sabrine has also dedicated herself to helping disadvantaged women and children. For over nine years, she has volunteered with non-profit organizations such as the American Association of University Women and Angel Wings Ministries, providing support and assistance to those in need.

Sabrine's bright intellect, exceptional talent, and unwavering determination are qualities that set her apart. She aspires to pave the way for more women of color in the field of STEM, serving as a role model and advocate for diversity and inclusion.

HIGHLIGHTS

Carnival Press Conference at Baltimore City Hall:

I had the privilege of commemorating Caribbean American Heritage Month at Baltimore City Hall alongside Dr. Elaine Simon and Mayor Brandon Scott. Together, we convened for a press conference promoting the Baltimore-Washington One Carnival. The afternoon was a vibrant celebration of our shared heritage, marked by captivating performances and insightful speeches. My journey as Miss Caribbean has been an incredible blessing, and it felt like a profound full-circle moment to address the same venue where, 45 years ago on this very day, my grandfather, Richard Semper Sr., was honored. Back then, Mayor William Donald Schaeffer presented a proclamation recognizing his steelband, the Trinidad and Tobago Baltimore Steel Orchestra, as the official Steelband of Baltimore Youth Guest Speaker at the Baltimore Teens and

Tweens Youth Summit:

I had the opportunity to speak at the Teens and Tweens Youth Summit hosted by Miracles-N-More Outreach as the keynote youth guest speaker! This incredible event is dedicated to empowering young minds, fostering growth, and inspiring the next generation of leaders. Sharing the stage with Kai Jackson from Fox45, fellow youth and adult panelists, and community vendors was an incredible honor and a wonderful opportunity to engage with and learn from such a diverse and inspiring group.

The summit aims to provide valuable resources, support, and motivation to our youth, and I am grateful to be part of this amazing initiative. Together, we can create a brighter future and help our teens and tweens navigate their paths with confidence and resilience.

Many thanks to the Miracles-N-More team for this amazing opportunity to be part of such an amazing impactful event!

Team Jamacia Bickle Brunch:

I had the honor to attend the Team Jamaica Bickle brunch fundraiser, supporting Caribbean athletes at the Penn Relays, as Miss Caribbean 2023. This event plays a crucial role in raising funds for talented athletes from the Caribbean region. Standing in the picture is Voffee Jabateh · CEO at ACANA Philadelphia, PA to the left, Jannie L.
